Art doesn’t have to be perfect — it’s beautiful in its own way.

About us

SOME SPACE Gallery is a project and art space founded by Virinsire Chomchey, or Ice. It serves as a platform for diverse art exhibitions, focusing on various techniques, forms, and content, with an emphasis on fun and experimental approaches by the artists. The gallery showcases works from both Thai artists and artists from around the world.

The gallery stands out for its support and presentation of critical social issues, such as political struggles, human rights, gender equality, and the reduction of racial hatred. SOME SPACE is not only an art space but also a hub for collaboration between artists from countries such as Thailand, Myanmar, China, Europe, and the United States, aiming to promote these important ideas to the public.

SOME SPACE Gallery is a place that offers artists the opportunity to express themselves through art while fostering understanding of social issues through beauty and the joy of creativity.

What 'SOME' means

"We've always been searching for our own space, a space where we can truly be ourselves, speak about what we want to, break free from the boxes society has placed us in, and express ourselves with confidence and courage."

I created SOME SPACE Gallery with this idea in mind. I believe that many artists share the same idea as I do, and I want them to have the opportunity to express themselves in this space. It’s a serious playground—a place where anyone can come and do something. It’s a place that is not specific, boundaryless, and undefinable."

Founder

Virinsire Chomchey

“Queer feminist Artist Activist and Curator” Her work presents the transition of emotional and mental states, as well as the existence of spirits, in connection with social and political conditions. It explores the intersections of rights, politics, gender, and cultural belief systems within the context of Thailand, a country with complex belief structures that blend Buddhism, folk beliefs, and spiritual practices.

Partnership

&

Network

Since 2023, SOME SPACE has been actively engaged in organizing a range of activities that promote artistic expression and social change. The organization focuses on creating platforms for artistic initiatives that aim to inspire, educate, and mobilize communities. Through collaborations with diverse organizations, including local and international activists, advocacy groups, and educational institutions, SOME SPACE works to foster cross-cultural exchanges and drive impactful social movements. These partnerships are key to facilitating conversations around important social issues, advocating for justice, and promoting cultural awareness on a global scale. By working with both Thai and international partners, SOME SPACE seeks to bridge gaps, amplify voices, and create a more inclusive and interconnected world through art and activism.
